On Windows 8, setup triggers SmartScreen warning

I'm running the Windows 8 developer preview. I went to install this program and SmartScreen prompted me with a warning indicating that I should not install this program. This needs to be investigated and fixed as users might not trust the program.

I've done some quick research on this and found "SmartScreen will only notify you when you run an application that has not yet established a reputation" - my question now is how does SmartScreen find out the reputation of a program?

It is probably due to the presence of an .exe file in the download. That is commonly checked to see if a download could potentially be harmful. To be honest most software download sites like Codeplex are probably blacklisted as well unless they are very well known. Maybe an .msi installer package would be ok, I don't know. It is something to worry about when a package is actually ready for release to the end user.
